The ICAREWOUNDS consortium travelled to Riga for the THCS Midterm Meeting to present results to THCS Partnership and fellow projects funded under the same call
The ICAREWOUNDS European project consortium, represented by Gradiant (coordinator), University College Dublin (UCD) and the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Galicia Sur (IISGS), was in Riga on May 26–27 to present the project’s interim results at the Midterm Review Meeting organised by THCS. Furthermore, the consortium had the opportunity to attend presentations by the coordinators of other projects funded under the same call.
During the meeting, key progress was highlighted in the co-creation of the integrated care model for chronic wound management, as well as in the design of the AI-based digital platform aimed at improving clinical decision-making and care coordination.
Among the main milestones, partners reported the completion of a comprehensive review of current chronic wound management practices across Europe and the successful co-design of the integrated care model, involving stakeholders from the three pilot countries: Spain, Poland and Ireland.
Significant advances were also presented regarding the ICAREWOUNDS platform, which now integrates an AI-based clinical decision support system (CDSS) for chronic wounds treatment selection, and user interfaces tailored to healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers.
Progress is also ongoing in the multicentre clinical study, with its first phase completed and further validation phases underway to assess the platform and care model in practice.
